Science and Spirituality

Science and spirituality do not necessarily have to cause a disagreement. There are many areas where a spiritual person and a scientific person can find common ground. The complexity of the universe around us is awe inspiring. While it is true that no one can see God, people can see his creations all around them. The situation could be compared to that of Michelangelo. No one alive today ever saw him, but people can clearly see his creations in galleries around the world. Even scientists have admitted there has to be a designer to this awe inspiring world.

Take a look at some viable aspects of science and see if believing them conflicts with being a spiritual person. The earth itself is a globe hanging in space. This is scientifically proven. Pictures from space prove it beyond a shadow of a doubt. A spiritual person would believe what the Bible says at Isaiah 40:22: "There is One who is dwelling above the circle of the earth." This basically supports the scientific proof, and did so many years before the scientific proof was even made.

A spiritual person believes the account of creation. A scientist knows that animals only produce after their own kind. Fossil records have proven that life on earth seems to have appeared as the same species we see today. Charles Darwin even admitted that "the distinctions of specific forms and their not being blended together by innumerable transitional links is a very obvious difficulty". He himself admitted that there were holes in his theory.

Examining such evidence proves that realities can be scientific and spiritual. In many cases, the evidence brings together the thinking of both spiritual and scientific people. It pays to put forth the effort to examine both outlooks. You might be surprised how much they agree with each other.
