In order to achieve spirituality for all, spirituality and religion should first be separated and looked at separately. While it is often used as a term that is interchangeable with spirituality, religion is only one venue to practice spirituality. Spirituality is finding yourself at one with the world. It is self transcending, and focuses on forgiveness. Some believe spirituality to be a meaning in life or their connection to a higher power.
Spirituality involves a connection with the world and others. It recognizes the unity of everyone and the value of nature. Those who are spiritual believe the universe is good and filled with spiritual energy, and that nature’s abundance should be shared. Many believe in spirituality because the emptiness inside that nags at them, making them question what life is all about. With a growing amount of ecological catastrophes happening, more people are turning toward their natural connection to spirituality.
While many religions emphasize spirituality, they are attempts at organizing a specific set of behaviors that support a “right way to live”, segregating anyone who does not live by their beliefs. Spirituality, however, is not set in stone, can exist without religion, and breaks down to our natural instincts of morals and beliefs. Many spiritual people look at spirituality to be a more advanced stage of development that opens oneself to the goodness of nature and its love.
So with the understanding of spirituality, pushing a particular belief on another person is not the way of achieving spirituality for all. Spirituality is achieved by allowing nature to take its course. It is inside everyone, some just live and share it better. The best way to get others to have a better connection to their natural spirituality is to live it yourself and allow others to see its benefits.
